Politics?!?!

I have never had much interest in politics, but the last couple of years we've found ourselves drawn in by something or someone quite often. Although part of me feels like avoiding "politics" with a ten foot pole, the other part of me feels great when we are standing up for what and who we believe in and are doing our part to make a difference.

This year one of the best men I know (period) is running for our State House seat -- Bob Morain. He never intended to be a politician, but when a spot opened up and there was no one from his party to fill it, he stepped up to the plate. He is strong in his convictions, well studied, and great at presenting his ideas and view points -- all important character traits for the leaders we elect. Fortunately his views also align with ours so we can whole-heartedly support him and his campaign.

Bob hasn't been able to get much media coverage -- especially from our newspaper -- so he and his campaign have been trying to come up with ways to get his name out. Well on Thursday about lunch time Michael Steele (the Republican National Committee Chairman) brought his Fire Pelosi bus to town. We went to see him and to be part of an effort to spread the word about Bob Morain. It was a fun adventure. Unfortunately not as many were there as we had hoped, but it was still great. I'm glad we went.
