We've had two trips to the Urgent Care in the past week! Ugh! On Saturday James was using our newly sharpened Cutco paring knife to core an apple. In the end he pushed the knife through the apple and about 2/3 of an inch into his hand. Katherine watched the kids at home as I rushed James off to Urgent Care with it bleeding -- a lot. Three stitches later he is recovering well. No long term damage was done. Whew! Ironically he has just been teaching the scouts about knife safety as part of their six weeks focused on Cooking.
Then last night we were on our way out of a store and the kids were chasing around a little -- it wasn't that bad, really. And Michael and Sarah collided. Sarah ended up with a headache and Michael we feared had broken his nose. It looked visibly displaced. It was 40 minutes before Urgent Care closed so we stopped the bleeding and took him straight there. Once there we learned that anytime within a week you can take them in with the same result. Usually they won't do anything about a broken nose anyway. And the doctor didn't think it was broken -- just swollen funny. He couldn't feel a break. So we're to just watch it and go to an ENT if we have further concerns. I guess we'll know better for next time :)
My grandma always believed that things happen in threes. So I'm trying to think of something in hindsight that counts as 'the third thing' so that I don't have to worry that we have one more trip to urgent care in our near future.

So sorry about the Urgent Care week -- look at it this way soon the staff will "know" you! We don't even have to use the formal check in process anymore.
