We had a fun time carving pumpkins this year. The kids actually got to carve them twice. We have a wonderful lady in our ward who has helped us so much lately and has become an important part of our kids' lives. She invited the kids to come to her home one day after school and frost cookies and give me some time alone -- with Joanna. When they got home, they reported that they had carved pumpkins and frosted cookies. But since they knew we were going to carve them here that night, they had left the pumpkins at her house. It was unanimous (among the kids) that we should carve ours too. We carved two from our garden. This year we planted some that were supposed to be good for cooking and carving, but they didn't grow as well as many years. We also carved two store bought ones. The older kids cleaned and carved theirs all by themselves. Sarah even got to do a little carving. I love those little orange handled knives. It makes the carving seem so much easier and safer!
