Michael's Marathon

At the kids' school they have a Mileage Club that meets two days a week after school. School lets out at 3:00 and they meet and start running a designated "lap" outside. They can run/walk until 3:45. Each time they complete a lap they get a popsicle stick. At the end of each day they turn their popsicle sticks in to be recorded. After 12 sticks they get a Toe Tag. It is a little plastic foot that they can thread on a chain. After 8 Toe Tags and 11 more sticks they get a Double Toe Tag. This signifies that they have run the equivalent distance as a Marathon. Both Katherine and Michael have been attending Mileage Club quite regularly. Katherine mostly walks around and visits with friends which is great! She comes home happy and has gotten fresh air and some exercise. Michael has taken it on as a challenge. He wears his chain almost every day and always knows how many sticks he has and how many he needs for his next goal. Well today he earned his Double Toe Tag! I'm proud of him for sticking with his goals and earning it. After Thursday they quit for the winter and will start up again in the spring. I'm so happy for him that he earned it this season, and he doesn't have to wait until spring to see his determination pay off.
