Christmas Break

Well, there's so much to catch up on from Christmas! But unlike other years, I think I'm going to try to catch up instead of skipping ahead. So here it goes:

You can be happy to note that I just erased all of the dirty details of the start of our Christmas vacation. Suffice it to say we got on the road at 3:00 p.m. Christmas Eve for our 8 hour drive with 4 family members having thrown up in the past 24 hours. We traveled with soda, crackers, and buckets. Fortunately we made it to Grandma's house without needing the buckets or any emergency stops! Hooray! We thought we were past the worst of it until Joanna (who was one of the first to get it) started throwing up again on Christmas day.

But we did have a good Christmas day with a delicious breakfast and fun with the kids, grandparents, and dogs. We even got to play with cousins who were crazy enough to come and play with us! We couldn't interest Joanna in Christmas much. It was sweet, though, that the next morning she woke up and the first thing she said was, "Open presents now?" and "Santa come?" Well most of her presents we already opened, but we took her to them and she loved playing with them as though it was Christmas morning. I had felt bad that her Christmas day had been so lousy, but in the end she recreated it for herself the next day.

There aren't too many pictures of the kids with their presents. We've got great kids who were happy and kind to each other and were grateful for the things they received. Katherine got photo lights and backdrops to help make her into a 'real' photographer. It is being much more difficult that we imagined to use them, though, but maybe sometime we'll figure it out. So most of the pictures from Christmas are posed pictures in front of her new backdrops.
