Spring Break

Spring Break 2013

This year for spring break we spent 3 nights in a 3 bedroom cabin at the YMCA of the Rockies.  We had a great time!  It was a little colder than we wished, but we made the most of it.

The boys and dog went on two hikes.  The girls joined in for one of them.  As you can see, we hiked in snow pants, hats, and mittens.  It was still beautiful and a lot of fun.  The boys hiked to the East Portal Tunnel which is a diversion dam that is part of James's jurisdiction at work with the Bureau of Reclamation.  A week before our trip, they had been doing some exploratory drilling at that sight and had run into problems.  It was fun for James to get to hike there and check things out.

We also hiked to Bible Point.  It was a little steeper than we anticipated, but it was a nice hike where we got high enough to look out over all of the YMCA and surrounding area.

We got to play basketball, shuffleboard, ping pong, skittles, and go swimming twice!  We also enjoyed just hanging out in the cabin playing games.

and reading . . .

One of the memories I hope I always remember is the night the boys finally got a fire started and we turned off all of the lights and, while watching the fire, told family stories and sang songs together.
