Fishing with Grandpa and Grandma

Grandpa has been excited to take all of us fishing. It was the first thing on the agenda when we arrived in Utah. Like most good fishermen we got up at 5:00 a.m. to make it to the fish on time. Unlike most good fishermen we drove 7 hours and stopped for lunch and a rest before we finally made it to the fishing hole at 3:30 p.m.

It was a good thing that Grandpa likes to take us to a place where the fish are always biting and you can catch your limit faster than you wish!

I tried to get around to scrapbooking these tonight, but it didn't quite work out. So for now, here are a couple of my favorite photos:

How many men does it take to get a fish in the bucket?

Sarah ended up catching the largest fish of the trip -- Wahoo Sarah!! It took a lot of courage to stand this close to her catch long enough for me to snap a picture. :)

Michael spent the ENTIRE time trying to catch a fish with his bare hands. He got close a couple of times and got bit a couple of times. Unfortunately he left empty handed and disappointed. Grandpa was a good sport and got into the action with him for a while. He spent some time with his hand in the water and some time throwing chub to entice the fish right where Michael was.

A perfect day for fishing!

About the time we were done fishing, Grandpa took Matthew to a different pond to try one more time. Matthew (with Grandpa's help of course) quickly caught a large fish. He then proudly put his weight behind dragging it up the hill to the bucket. Most say he "took his fish for a walk!" It freed itself from the hook part way up the hill and had to be carried the rest of the way.

Joanna was best at dropping pellets into the water and watching the feeding frenzy. She didn't want to have much to do with a fishing pole or a live fish.

What this picture doesn't show is all of the action and deliberation associated with Katherine getting up the courage to touch the fish she caught! She did touch it, but getting it into the bucket was too much to ask.

My two cute fisherpeople.

Yep, I was there too -- loving every minute of it -- as was my excellent husband who was fully involved in the whole process, walking with a crutch, and still taking time to find someone from Brazil to speak Portuguese with and someone from our home stake to visit with. He is always so busy doing good that he can be hard to keep up with! Crutches haven't slowed James down much, but I can get him to sit still occasionally now :)
